Robert “Bob” Eugene Bollish, 60, of Sterling died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, near his home. At Bob’s request, there will be no funeral service. A celebration of his life open house for family and friends will be on Tuesday March 2, from 1 to 4 p.m. at their family home at 20512 C.R. 35, Sterling, CO 80751.
Bob was born Sept. 8, 1949, in Sterling to Don and Mildred Bollish. Bob attended Sterling schools, obtained an AA degree from NJC, and attended Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy (CLETA) then went on to attend the National Sheriff’s Institute as well as several law enforcement training courses.
Bob met his wife Shari Harvey where they worked at the Sterling Police Department. Bob and Shari were married in 1982. They farmed, ranched and raised their three children, Jamie, Kelly and Joey.
The Sterling native had a long history in local law enforcement. He began his career with the Sterling Police Department, where he seved for 14 years, before becoming undersheriff to his father, Don, at the Logan County Sheriff’s Office. He held that post for two years, then ran for sheriff in 1994 to fill his dad’s shoes. Bob served as Logan County Sheriff for 12 years. He loved being Sheriff and cared deeply for this community. He was the driving force behind establishing the Justice Center among many other accomplishments during his time in office. He was the best sheriff Logan County ever had.
Bob enjoyed riding horses, cloud and star watching and spending time with his family and friends.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shari of Sterling; daughters, Jamie Bollish of Denver, Kelly Bollish, her fiancé Shane Kuntz and Shane’s son Trey Kuntz of Sterling; son, Joseph Bollish of Fort Collins; and parents Don and Mildred Bollish of Sterling.
Bob was preceded in death by his grandparents and infant sister, Peggy.
Many of you knew that Bob had a beautiful singing voice. Some people said he sounded like Jim Reeves. The family requests anyone who had a chance to record Bob singing they would appreciate a copy. Thank you.
