Pauline E. “Sis” Schneider, 89, of Sterling, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, in Sterling. A Rosary and memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at St. Anthony Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Wedow officiating. Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Ms. Schneider was born Sept. 7, 1920, to Jacob and Katherine (Appelhans) Schneider in Atwood. She graduated from Padroni High School in 1938.

She was employed as a seamstress at Meier & Frank Dept. Store in Portland, Ore., for several years. When she returned to Sterling, she was her mother’s caregiver for many years. She enjoyed sewing and reading.

Ms. Schneider is survived by sisters, Barbara Fish of Portland, Jo Mari of Sterling, Katherine Guenzi and husband Gene of Sherwood, Ore., Anna Bauman and husband Lawrence of Delano, Minn., Helen Morgan of Montrose and Virginia Greenfield and husband Norman of Sterling; brothers, Herman Schneider and wife Georgia of Sterling, Ben Schneider of Sterling and Larry Schneider and wife Mary Katherine of Iliff; and sister-in-law, Irene Schneider.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; sister, Mary Janzck; and brothers, Paul, George, Jack and Joe. Memorials can be made to St. Anthony Catholic Church or to charities or missions of the donor’s choice. Tennant Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
