Lucile F. Benker, 86, formerly of Julesburg passed away February 15, 2010 in Gering, NE. Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday February 19, 2010 at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home with Pastor Art Roth officiating. Viewing will be before the service starting at 9:30 A.M. Burial will follow the service in Hillside Cemetery.

Lucile was born September 13, 1923 to Lee & Esther (Wegman) Harold in Sterling, CO. She graduated from Julesburg High School in 1943. Lucile married Harlan Christian Benker May 19, 1943 in Julesburg. September 21, 1955 they moved to an acreage outside of Julesburg, where they remained until Dec. 10th, 2008. Lucile worked in the Ovid School Lunch room, J.M. McDonald’s, Julesburg Safeway Store, and finally in 1966 for Mckinstry Abstract Co. until she retired in 1984. Lucile enjoyed her flower and vegetable gardens, baking, and reading.

Lucile was preceded in death by her Mother and Father – Lee and Esther. Husband Harlan, brothers Robert, Everett, and Lee Jr, sisters Evelyn (Isenbart), Betty (Braasch – Oltman), and daughter-in-law Deb Benker. Lucile is survived by Son-Donald of Kirkland, AZ, Daughter Carol J. Howsden and husband Dan of Millington, TN, brothers Wayne Harold of Olympia, WA, Malvin Harold & wife Becky of St. Edwards, NE, sister La Von Arndt & husband Buzz of Kent, WA, 4 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Colorado Chapter 455 Sherman St. Suite 500, Denver, CO 80203. Austin-Tennant Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
